Taken Assault MARS [solo] Quest in Destiny: The Taken King

Taken Assault MARS  [solo]  Sho’Oulth Horror of Oryx Bounty Location Quest in Destiny: The Taken King

The Taken Assault MARS quest is part of The Taken War Questline and puts you up against a pretty strong champion in a public event on Mars.

The Taken War Questline has very similar bounties as the ones in House of Wolves. You seek out public events, in this case on mars (The Barrens, Scablands, Hollows, Buried City, Valley of Kings or The Rubicon Wasters) and kill a champion that spawns at the end of the event.

In the case of The Taken War, there’s a bit more to do, so here’s the breakdown. First, you will need a fireteam or at least one more player near you.

Get into position on one of the 6 locations on mars and wait until the taken attack the area. The Champion appears after you killed the 3 lieutenants during the public event. Focus on these enemies and the champion will spawn soon. His name is Sho’oulth and he can take quite a few rockets. You have to kill him twice for the Taken Assault: Mars quest step. Just stick around and wait for the next public event and kill him a second time.

You will be awarded with the battle wreckage automatically after killing the champion.

After you killed Sho’oulth, the champion twice, you have to return to Petra and turn in your quest item. This completes this quest step and also the quest line “Taken War: Petra”.

I like the idea of these quests, but given how poorly Patrol has been (from a progression standpoint) ever since 1.0, I really don’t like how these public events were scaled to require a fireteam of several people to successfully complete them. I can understand trying to make a group for endgame content, but considering every single quest aside from those involving public events can be finished solo (and with much less fake difficulty -read: stupidly high amounts of health- than these public events) it feels totally disconnected and just turns me off rather than gets me excited for public events again.
